These directions are similar to many others, but I just love making them unique…
It’s amazing what you can make out of simple items and just a little bit of time! Today I will tell you how to make tissue paper flowers. Refer to the pictures for more detailed step-by-step guidance. These colorful and delicate blooms will be a perfect decoration for any room or party, and they can be made in any color, shape or size.
What you’ll need:
- An arrangement of various colors of tissue paper(your choice)
- A ruler (optional)
- One Pipe-Cleaner per flower
- Floral Tape (optional)
First you need to cut the sheets of tissue paper into squares. You need to cut about four to six squares of tissue paper any color that you want! You can make your flower one color, or many colors it’s up to you! Make sure your tissue paper squares are all the same size (not too big though; they need to be about 6″ by 12″ in dimensions). You may need the ruler for this. Lay the squares on top of each other in the order you would like them to appear in your flower. You can make the layers every other color, or lay several sheets of one color on top of each other. I like making my flowers with a couple of sheets of one color for the center of the flower and then a few sheets for the outside of the flower. If you want to make leaves for the underpart of the flower, I do not recommend using green as one of your choices.
Okay. Once you have layered your squares of tissue paper, fan fold all of the squares together like your are making a paper fan. Fold them back and forth about 1″ every fold. Once that is done, keep your fan folded and cut two squares of green (any color of green, depending on what color of green that you want your leaves to be) Fold those into a fan as well. Once you have two folded fans cut off the edges either rounded or pointed with your scissors.(this will shape the petals) Lay the two fans together keeping the green one on the bottom and wrap your pipe cleaner around them and twist it at the bottom. I recommend the pipe cleaner to be green if you decide not to wrap it with floral tape.(your pipe cleaner will turn out to be the stem) Once that is finished, start with one side and flip up the first layer or square gently until it is bunched a little. Do this with every layer on that side and then do the same for the other. Little by little your flower will start to look better and better. After every layer is adjusted you should have a complete flower. If you did not completely understand these directions, refer to the pictures and their captions below. Before long you will want to make a whole bouquet!
